Women's Soccer Dominates at Elmira with 7 Goals

Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagle women's soccer team traveled to Elmira to face the Soaring Eagles, and dominated putting up a 7-1 victory. This big win brings the team to 12-1-1 overall and 8-1 in the E8 Conference. 

Wasting no time in the first period at just 57 seconds, Megan Gerber took the first shot of the day and scored to open up the book with an assist by Kaleigh Pettit. Jaylah Cossin was next to find the back of the net with an assist from Autumn Edwards

Madison Hughs scored her first goal of the 2024 season for the Golden Eagles which was also unassisted bringing the score up to 3-0.  Just one minute later, Elmira brought in its first goal of the day which was scored by Mo McBride and assisted by Bella Thomas. It was a 3-1 lead for Brockport before Amelia Breton got going.

Amelia Breton scored just a few minutes later at 26:56, and was assisted by Caitlin Nelson for the teams fourth goal of the day. Soon after, Breton shot a rocket past the goalkeeper off of a corner kick from Jaylah Cossin for her second of the game. Breton's back-to-back goals moved the score to 5-1 going into the halftime break. 

Just two minutes into the second half, Maryalice Skutnik brought in her second goal of the 2024 season at 47:43 with an assist by Autumn Edwards (2nd of the game). Amelia Breton would score once more to complete her hat trick, this time assisted by Kaleigh Pettit (2nd of the game). Breton's third goal created the 7-1 final for the Golden Eagles.

Breton's scored a total of three goals on the day bringing her to six points total and seven total goals on the 2024 season. Jaylah Cossin also had a day with a goal and an assist bringing her to three points on the day. 

In between the pipes for the Golden Eagles for the first half was Madeline McCrosson with a total of three saves. Emily McCane was in goal for the second half making one save for the team in the win.

Up Next – Brockport is set to host Utica College on Saturday, October 26th on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field where they will celebrate Senior Day. Gametime is scheduled for 3pm.
