Field Hockey Drops Wednesday's Matchup Vs. #20 Geneseo

Brockport, NY- The Brockport field hockey team dropped Wednesday's E8 matchup against #20 Geneseo, 5-2, on October 23rd. The Golden Eagles fell to 12-4 on the season with a 6-1 mark in Empire 8 games.
 
Quinn Guy opened the games scoring, burying a goal at the top of the cage at the 6:07 mark of the first period to put Brockport up 1-0.
 
The Golden Eagle lead would last just 28 seconds, as Katrina Clare of Geneseo provided a swift response, tying the game up at 1-1.
 
The Knights would enter the 2nd period with a 2-1 lead, thanks to Hailey Roethel's goal at the 11:50 mark of the contest.
 
In the 2nd period, Kelsey Zehr would tally the lone goal of the period. Zehr would take advantage of her penalty stroke, sending Brockport into halftime with a 2-2 tie.
 
After recording a 17-4 shots advantage in the first half, the Knights would post 17 more shots in the 2nd half, outshooting Brockport 17-2.
 
Despite a strong effort from Ella Buchanan and the Brockport defense, the knights would score the final 3 goals of the contest, earning a 5-2 win.
 
Ella Buchanan (L, 10-3) posted a season high 19 saves in an excellent effort.
 
Mary Young put her body on the line throughout, racking up a career high 3 defensive saves in a strong outing.
 
Paige Thowe recorded a defensive save with a shot on goal in the contest.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will look to bounce back at Utica on Saturday, October 26th at 5 p.m.
