Utica, NY—The Brockport field hockey team defeated Utica on the road, 3-1, on Saturday, October 26
th. The Golden Eagles improved to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in Empire 8 play following the win.
Ella Buchanan (W, 11-3) provided one of her best outings of the season. Buchanan finished with 13 saves, posting 13+ saves in back-to-back games and 10+ saves in four of her last five outings.
Following a scoreless first period,
Paige Thowe found
Tiffany Andres for her sixth goal of the season, putting Brockport up 1-0 in the second.
Entering the second half up 1-0,
Paige Thowe would double the Golden Eagle advantage thanks to an assist from
Allison Greene.
The Pioneers would hang tough, with Alyssa Pisano responding at the 46:17 mark in the third to cut the Brockport lead to 2-1.
With less than nine minutes remaining in the game,
Samantha Choate would end the Utica comeback bid. Choate found the back of the net for the insurance goal, leading to the 3-1 final.
Paige Thowe would lead all players with three points, burying a goal and adding an assist.
