Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer kept its historical start to the season alive on Wednesday with yet another shutout victory. The Golden Eagles defeated Nazareth on the road, 5-0, improving to 10-0-1 overall and 6-0 in Empire 8 play.
Brockport is now undefeated through 11 games for the first time in program history. The squad has now won nine matches in a row. With another clean sheet out in Rochester, the team now has 11 shutouts in a row and have yet to allow a single goal this season.
Megan Gerber got the party started with the first goal for the Green and Gold on the day. Gerber was assisted by
Kellie Gentile at 17:01 in the first half to make it a 1-0 lead for Brockport.
At the 28:24 mark, the Golden Eagles would double their lead.
Caitlin Nelson scored to make it a 2-0 tally on the scoreboard, with the assist coming from
Jaylah Cossin on the play.
After assisting on the team's second score of the match, Cossin decided to score one of her own. She beat the Nazareth keeper for her eight goal of the season, assisted by
Autumn Edwards. With this score at 39:27, Brockport secured a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Already up comfortably on the scoreboard, the Golden Eagles wasted no time in the second half to continue the scoring. Less than three minutes into the second half,
Sierra Edwards found the back of the net, assisted by
Jaylah Cossin, to make it a 4-0 lead.
To put the cherry on top, the Golden Eagles got one more goal to finish off the Golden Flyers.
Caitlin Nelson netted her second goal of the game at 67:42, solidifying the 5-0 final.
Brockport outshot Nazareth, 13-5, for the game, which includes a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Madeline McCrosson played the full 90 minutes in net, making the save she needed to preserve the clean sheet.
The Golden Eagles will be back on their home turf for more Empire 8 action on Saturday, October 12
th. They will host the St. John Fisher Cardinals for a 12pm start at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
