Albany, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team defeated Sage on Friday night, 3-1, in conference play. Brockport improves to 14-8 overall and 7-3 in the Empire 8.
The Golden Eagles took the first two sets 25-21 and 25-18 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match. Russell Sage battled back in the third set, 25-23, to avoid the sweep. Brockport dominated the fourth and final set, 25-14, to secure the 3-1 win on the road.
The offense saw a balanced effort with four players hitting double digits in kills. Kaylee Dickerson Holly (14),
Alexis Sison (13),
Alenna Williamson (12), and
Lauren Emke (11) all contributed to the attack.
Setting the table for the hitters was the setter combination of
Kaitlyn Jewett and
Lauryn Forand. Jewett had 25 assists and Forand was credited with 22.
Defensively,
Elsie Logan led all players in the match with 22 digs as the Brockport libero. Sison got down for 13 digs to chip in defensively.
Alyssa Bruno had four total blocks, with one solo and three assists. Williamson also had three block assists on the night.
Brockport saw service aces from Williamson (2), Jewett (2), Emke (1), and
Gianna Felipe (1).
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday for a 2pm matchup on the road against Hartwick to conclude regular season conference play.
