Brockport Football Earns Collection of All-Conference Nods

Rochester, NY – On Thursday, November 21st the Empire 8 released the 2024 football all-conference selections. Brockport was recognized with six 1st-Team, seven 2nd-Team, and five 3rd-Team selections this season. The Golden Eagles earned 18 total all-conference nods and have one member on the E8 Sportsman of the Year Team.
 
1st-Team Offense – Isaiah Simmons, RB
Getting the keys to the running game in 2024, Simmons responded with his first career 1st-Team All-Conference selection. Brockport's star running back set career-highs across the board as the E8's leading rusher. He racked up 193 carries for 1,342 yards, and 16 touchdowns. Isaiah broke 100-yards rushing on seven occasions, while averaging 134.2 yards per game and 7.0 yards per carry for the season.
 
1st-Team Offense – Adam Montalvo, OL
Montalvo gets honored for his work up front on the offensive line this season with his first career conference award as a 1st-Team All-Conference selection. The Golden Eagle junior earned a 96% player grade on the season and allowed just two sacks. Adam was a key piece of the Brockport offensive line that led the way for the Empire 8's second-best rushing attack (195.1 yards per game).
 
1st-Team Offense – Nolan Slywka, WR
In year two with the Golden Eagles, Slywka proved to be a big time playmaker in the passing game for the offense. He set career-highs across the board with 45 receptions, 716 yards, and eight touchdowns. Nolan had three multi-touchdown games, including a 3-touchdown effort in a road win over Hilbert. He is now a two-time All-Conference player, earning 1st-Team honors in 2024 after getting 2nd-Team in 2023.
 
1st-Team Defense – Ben Robinson, LB
For the first time in his career B. Rob was awarded 1st-Team All-Conference, earning the promotion from 3rd-Team in 2023. Robinson led an incredible Golden Eagle defense with 88 total tackles in 2024, which ranked second in the Empire 8. He is also first in the conference with 6.0 sacks to go with tallies of 9.0 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and three quarterback hurries.
 
1st-Team Defense – Kyle Haettich, DB
Preseason All-American, Kyle Haettich collects 1st-Team All-Conference for the second year in a row. As one of the leaders for Brockport's dominant defense, Haettich made an impact all over the field. He finished the 2024 regular season with 48 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery. In week three's win over Wilkes he had two picks, including one that he returned 93 yards for a touchdown.
 
1st-Team Special Teams – Dan Giangrasso, P
Big Red gets 1st-Team All-Conference honors for the third year in a row, now making him a 4-time All-Empire 8 selection (1st-2024,1st- 2023, 1st-2022, 3rd-2021). Giangrasso led the Empire 8 with an average of 43.1 yards per punt, racking up 1,294 punt yards on 30 kicks. Dan had 10 punts travel 50+ yards and he pinned opponents back inside the 20 on 13 different occasions.
 
2nd-Team Offense – Ahmad Davis-Warner, OL
Davis-Warner earned 2nd-Team All-Conference for the first postseason honor of his career with the Brockport football program. Stepping into a starting role on the offensive line, Ahmad earned a 98% player grade for blocking in 2024 and only allowed one sack all season. He helped pave the way for the Empire 8's second-best rushing attack (195.1 yards per game).
 
2nd-Team Offense – Daniel Manneh, WR
In his first year wearing the Brockport Green and Gold, Manneh exploded on the scene to earn 2nd-Team All-Conference in 2024. The wideout became a key piece to the passing game, hauling in 42 receptions for 575 yards and three touchdowns. Manneh also was effective as a return man for special teams. He totaled 120 yards and a touchdown on just four punt returns. On kickoff return, Manneh racked up 211 yards on just five attempts (42.2 yards per return).
 
2nd-Team Defense – Marqwan Fluitt, DL
Fluitt proved to be an effective pass rusher off the edge in his first season with the Golden Eagles defense. Looking for strip sacks from his defensive end position, he ended up with 2.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. On the season, Marqwan tallied 11 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and two quarterback hurries to get 2nd-Team All-Conference.
 
2nd-Team Defense – Andre Marianetti, DL
Marianetti put forth the best season of his careerin 2024 and was rewarded with 2nd-Team All-Conference for his first conference honor. Playing up front for the Brockport defense he contributed heavily with 9.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and was credited with seven QB rushes. Andre had 32 total tackles to go with a pair of pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
 
2nd-Team Defense – Jayson Thomas, DL
For the second year in a row, Thomas earns his spot for 2nd-Team All-Conference as the centerpiece of a strong defensive line. Brockport's nose tackle attracts a lot of attention up front for this nationally celebrated defense. Fighting through double teams all season, Jayson totaled 16 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three QB hurries, one pass deflection, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
 
2nd-Team Defense – Mike Talbert Jr., LB
Talbert was a menace from his linebacker position on defense all season long. He adds 2nd-Team All-Conference to his accolades after being named to the 1st-Team in 2023. Second on the defense with 64 total tackles, Mike got into the backfield for 4.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss on the season. He also added two interceptions, five pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, and one fumble recovery for the Golden Eagles.
 
2nd-Team Defense – Elijah Grooms, DB
Grooms joined the Brockport secondary this season and had an immediate impact on the field. He tied for first in the E8 with four interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Elijah also totaled 28 tackles, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble on the season to earn his first postseason honor at Brockport.
 
3rd-Team Offense – Ben Gocella, QB
Gocella put forth his best season as a Golden Eagles in his sophomore campaign to earn 3rd-Team All-Conference for his first collegiate postseason honor. Ben had career-highs across the board with 1,826 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 146.26 passer rating. Gocella's season totals are the highest from the QB position at Brockport since 2018.
 
3rd-Team Offense – Liam Malgieri, OL
Liam stepped into a starting role on the Brockport offensive line in 2024 and was rewarded for his work up front with 3rd-Team All-Conference. He collects the first postseason honor of his collegiate career as a member of offensive line in the Empire 8's second-best rushing attack (195.1 yards per game).
 
3rd-Team Offense – Brian Caldwell Jr., WR
Caldwell snags his first postseason award with his 3rd-Team All-Conference nod this season. On the outside, the Golden Eagle receiver finished second on the squad with four touchdown receptions on the season. Brian racked up 269 receiving yards on 16 catches, and had a streak of three straight games with a touchdown in 2024.
 
3rd-Team Defense – Dawin Fanor, LB
Dawin collects the first postseason honor of his career with 3rd-Team All-Conference honors. The senior linebacker led Brockport's nationally-recognized defense with 11.5 tackles for loss on the season, which included 4.0 sacks. Fanor totaled 44 tackles, four pass breakups, and four quarterback hurries on the season.
 
3rd-Team Special Teams – Sal Montaperto, K
Freshman kicker Sal Montaperto earns 3rd-Team All-Conference honors in his first season at the collegiate level. He was second on the team with 56 total points in 2024. He went 38-for-41 on extra point tries in his first season. Montaperto also connected on 6-of-8 field goal attempts with his longest make of the year coming from 34 yards out.
 
Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Marquis Wright, DB
Wright was selected as Brockport's representative on the Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Team. Having a great season in the secondary for the Golden Eagles, he is tied for team lead with six pass breakups to go with one interception. In the regular season he totaled 20 tackles, including 12 solos stops.
 
The Golden Eagles finished the regular season 7-3 overall with a 5-2 mark in Empire 8 play. Making an eighth straight postseason appearance, they have earned hosting rights for the ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl Game on Saturday, November 23rd. Brockport will host the University of Rochester for a 12pm kickoff at Bob Boozer Field.
