Golden Eagles Sweep Golden Knights on Friday Night

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team swept Clarkson University, 3-0, at home in non-conference action Friday night. Brockport moves to 15-9 overall, with RIT coming to town on Saturday.
 
The first set was tight early on, before Brockport went on a dominant run. Leading 16-15, the Golden Eagles scored nine straight points to take the 25-15 win in the first. Gianna Felipe took charge on the serve for eight of those points, helping the squad go up 1-0 in the match.
 
Scoring in the second set looked similar most of the way, this time Brockport grabbing a 15-14 lead midway through. After several 2-for-1 trades on the scoreboard, the home team pulled out a tight 25-19 win to go up 2-0.
 
In the third set, the Golden Eagles dominated to complete the sweep. After earning a 15-11 advantage, they went on another big run to seal the win. The squad would go on a 10-2 run to put the Golden Knights away 3-0.
 
Alexis Sison put together a strong 2-way performance on the home floor. She led the team with eight kills on a healthy .412 hitting percentage, while also having 14 digs in the match.
 
Brockport saw seven kills from Alenna Williamson, six from Kaylee Dickerson-Holly, and five from Maddy Howell (.556 hitting).
 
Setting up the hitters all night was the combination of Lauryn Forand and Kaitlyn Jewett. Forand had 16 assists, and Jewett was credited with 15 on the night.
 
With six total aces as a team, Gianna Felipe led the way with three to go with her six digs. Elsie Logan had two aces and led the team with 16 digs as the Green and Gold libero. Lauren Emke had one ace in the match.
 
The blockers were active as the group had one solo and ten block assists in the match. Lauren Emke had the lone solo block to go with two assists. Both Maddy Howell and Regina Salazar had three block assists. Alenna Williamson was given credit for two assisted denials as well.
 
The Golden Eagles are back at The Vlog on Saturday to host RIT for a 10am start. It will be the final match of the regular season, before Brockport turns its attention to the Empire 8 Tournament.
