Ewing, NJ – The Golden Eagle wrestling team competed at the Mideast Futures Tournament, hosted by The College of New Jersey on Sunday.
Khol Kalfass picked up a nice win in the first round of the 174-division bracket, pinning his opponent in 2:14. In round two he took a loss by a fall (2:14). Kalfass was eliminated in the lower bracket by fall (0:59).
Elijah Bonet earned a quick win in the first matchp of the 184-division bracket (0:14). However, he lost tough match in round two by decision, 9-7. Taking a loss by fall (2:50) in the lower bracket, Bonet's day came to a close.
In the 157-division,
Kevin Regan lost his first round matchup by fall (1:01). In the next bout he took another loss by fall (1:57) to end his run at the tournament.
Haydin Perez took his turn in the 165-divison, losing by a technical fall in round one (16-0, 3:09). Perez was eliminated after he suffered second tech. fall in the lower bracket (16-0, 3:27).
At 285,
Luke Coffin lost in the opening round matchup by decision (5-0). He was eliminated from the tournament in his second match, losing by fall (2:06).
The Golden Eagles now begin preparations to compete at the NCAA Mideast Regionals on Friday, March 1
st and 2
nd. The meet is set to be hosted by RIT.
