Rochester, NY - The Brockport wrestling team finished Day 1 of NCAA Mideast Regionals on Friday, March 1
st at RIT. The Golden Eagles scored 28 team points to hold 16
th place overall.
Liam Bullock and
Nick Franco both have survived and will advance to Day 2 on Saturday, looking to punch their tickets to nationals.
Liam Bullock (125 lb) went 3-1 on the day, picking up a big pinfall win over Daniel Parkulo (5:37) to advance to Day 2 with a chance to advance to nationals.Â

Jaden Friel had a strong day in the 141lb division, going 3-2 on the day and picking up 7.5 points for the Golden Eagles. Friel was eliminated by fall in the 4
th consolation round.

In the 149lb division,
Mahmoud Esa picked up a point, going a solid 3-2 on the day until his elimination in the 3
rd consolation round.

Max Morrison scored for Brockport in the 157lb division, picking up a point thanks to his first-round win against Liam Goodrich. Morrison would finish 1-2 on the day.

After a first-round bye at 285,
Nick Franco rolled to a 2-0 record on the day, guaranteeing an 8
th place finish or better at regionals. With his fall win over Jake Pomykata of Johns Hopkins in the 285 lb quarterfinal match, he remains in contention for a spot at nationals. Franco will return to the mat tomorrow for Day 2 of the regional competition.
