Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team plays its third straight game on the road Tuesday, March 19
th against Chatham University. Brockport will head to Pittsburgh, PA for the 4pm matchup.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles took on the nearby Golden Flyers from Nazareth last week. They lost on the road, moving to 1-1 in this current 4-game stretch away from home. Nazareth took the win, 21-8, moving Brockport to 1-4 overall so far this season.
Scoring Machine: Nick Askin has carried the load offensively for the Green and Gold through the first five games. He has scored 26 goals to rank fourth in the nation in goals per game (5.20) and is tied for 20
th in the nation in points per game (5.60). Last week he was named the SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week after setting a new single-game record with 10 goals.
Double-Digits: Two other Golden Eagles have registered 10 or more points offensively so far.
Marc Zappula leads the squad with 10 assists to go with six goals for 16 points.
Jackson Worden has 10 points from his seven goals and three dishes.
On the Faceoff: Andrew DiPalma has earned a .596 win percentage on the draw, going 81-for-136. In doing so he has scooped up a team-high 36 ground balls.
The Defensive Zone: Aidan Long (4),
Patrick Erway (4), and
Tim Hubbard (3) all have forced multiple turnovers defensively. Goalie
Jack Acker has chipped in as well (3 CT) to go with his work between the pipes. Starting in all five games he has made 66 saves for the Green and Gold.
Meet the Cougars: The Chatham Cougars enter Tuesday's game with a 3-4 record overall. They look to snap out of a slump after recently losing its last two contests. #4 Marsh Tanner (16), #1 Trent Griffin (13), and #13 Alex Stanuikynas (10) have all scored at least 10 goals through seven games. #24 Brett Zaruba has started every match in net, making 72 stops to own a .567 saves percentage.
On the Road Again: Following the game on Tuesday, the Golden Eagles will play one more game on the road to wrap up the road trip. They head to Oswego on Saturday, March 23
rd for a 3pm battle to open up conference play.
