Men's Lacrosse Falls to Ohio Northern in Overtime

Brockport, NY - The Brockport men's lacrosse team dropped an overtime nail-biter to Ohio Northern, 13-12, on Saturday, March 2nd. The Golden Eagles fell to 0-3 on the year following the loss.
 
Nick Askin opened the scoring for Brockport, burying an unassisted goal to bring the game to a 1-1 tie in the first.
 
Following back-to-back Polar Bear goals, Marc Zappula stopped the bleeding with a goal coming from a Nick Askin feed to cut the Ohio Northern lead to 3-2.
 
Following two more Ohio Northern goals, the Golden Eagles would respond in a big way, scoring the next three goals to tie the game at 5-5 with 10:40 left in the second quarter. Scoring for Brockport came from Jackson Worden, Marc Zappula, and Nate Askin.
 
The contest would prove to be a back-and-forth affair, with Marc Zappula and Nick Askin both adding goals in the first half to make the score 8-7 Ohio Northern at halftime.
 
Askin and Zappula would continue the scoring trend, both notching their 4th goals early in the third quarter to tie the game at 9-9.

Down 10-9, Brockport would respond once again with goals from Jackson Worden (2) and Garrett Smith giving Brockport a 11-10 edge.
 
Trailing 12-11 in the final frame, Nick Askin would come through again, notching his 5th goal of the game to send the game into overtime at 12-12.
 
John Lynn of Ohio Northern would notch the golden goal 51 seconds into overtime, giving the Polar Bears a 13-12 overtime win.
 
Jack Acker would provide a strong effort in the loss, saving 15 shots on the day.
 
Nick Askin would finish with four points in a hat trick effort, adding an assist.
 
Nate Askin would finish with four points himself, coming through with two goals and two assists.
 
Marc Zappula was a perfect 4-for-4, burying all of his shots on net for four goals.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will head to Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA on Saturday, March 9th at 1 p.m.
