Askin Breaks Single Game Goal Record, Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past Westminster 20-8

New Wilmington, PA- The Brockport men's lacrosse team put together a dominant performance in Pennsylvania, defeating Westminster 20-8 on Saturday, March 9th. The Golden Eagles moved to 1-3 on the season following the win.
 
The Titans would start hot, creating an early 2-0 lead with 9:47 left in the opening frame.
 
Marc Zappula split the lead in half with Brockport's first goal in the contest at the 2:34 mark in the first.
 
With just 3 seconds left in the first quarter, Nick Askin would tie up the game at 2-2, thanks to an assist from Jackson Worden.
 
The Golden Eagles would take the momentum in the second period, outscoring Westminster 5-0 thanks to goals from Nick Askin (3), Mike O'Brien, and Logan Postel. Brockport would take a commanding 7-2 lead into the half.
 
Nick Askin would continue his historic scoring pace, opening the 3rd quarter with his 5th goal of the contest, adding his 6th goal of the contest in the 3rd as well.  
 
The Titans would keep the game close entering the 4th period, with Kellen Frazer scoring a man-up goal to make the score 10-7 entering the final frame.
 
The Golden Eagles would put together a near-flawless 4th quarter, outscoring the Titans 10-1 in the final frame thanks to goals from Nick Askin (4), Marc Zappula, Carson Colucci, Nick Maslin, Jesse Wooley, Mike O'Brien, and Logan Postel.
 
With his 8th goal of the contest at the 13:10 mark in the 4th, Nick Askin would take down the previous single-game goal record of 7. Askin would finish with 10 goals in one of the best single-game performances in program history.
 
Jackson Worden had a strong day, picking up 3 assists.
 
Marc Zappula was active throughout, totaling 5 points with 2 goals and 3 assists of his own.
 
Logan Postel (2) and Mike O'Brien (3) combined for 5 goals on the day.
 
Andrew DiPalma was excellent on faceoffs, winning 16 of 23 draws with 10 ground balls.
 
Jack Acker turned in a strong outing between the pipes, making 19 saves with just 8 goals allowed.
 
Up Next: Brockport will head to Nazareth to face off with the Golden Flyers on Wednesday, March 13th at 4 p.m.
