Men's Lacrosse Drops SUNYAC Opener at Oswego, 9-5

Oswego, NY- The Brockport men's lacrosse team dropped Monday's SUNYAC opener against Oswego State, 9-5. The Golden Eagles fell to 1-6 on the season following the loss.
 
Nate Askin would score the opening tally, burying an unassisted goal to put Brockport ahead 1-0 at the 9-minute mark in the opening frame.
 
Following an Oswego goal by Jason Dongelewic, Garrett Smith would put the Golden Eagles ahead entering the second quarter with his goal with 41 seconds left in the first.
 
Both defenses would control the first half, with each team allowing just 3 goals each to enter the halftime break at a 3-3 stalemate.
 
The Lakers would take the momentum in the third quarter, with Logan Prescott scoring just 6 seconds into the period to put Oswego ahead 4-3.
 
Coming out of halftime, Oswego would score the second half's first 3 goals until Nate Askin would close the gap with his 3rd goal of the day to bring Brockport within two (6-4). Askin would lead all scorers with 3 goals in a strong effort. 
 
Oswego would respond with goals from Hayden Coney, Garrett Elston (2), and Connor Aspinall (2) to pull ahead 9-4 with 3:09 remaining.
 
Jackson Worden quickly responded with a goal less than a minute later (2:12), but the comeback bid would come up short as the Golden Eagles would fall to the Lakers 9-5.
 
Gavin Miller was strong in defeat, saving 15 shots across 60 minutes of action.
 
Seamus Hand of Oswego was a brick wall, saving 20 shots and allowing just 5 goals in a winning effort.
 
Tim Hubbard (4 GB, 2 CT) and Michael Marincic (4 GB, 4 CT) were excellent defensively for the Green and Gold.
 
Jackson Worden scooped up 4 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers in addition to scoring the game's final goal.       
 
Andrew DiPalma went 9-17 in the faceoff circle for Brockport, adding 4 ground balls.
 
Up Next: Brockport will return home to take on Alfred University on Wednesday, March 27th at 7 p.m.
