Brockport, NY- The Brockport men's lacrosse team dropped Wednesday's home non-conference matchup against Alfred, 17-11. The Golden Eagles fell to 1-7 following the loss.
 
Nate Askin put the Golden Eagles ahead early, finding the back of the net at the 12:12 mark of the first quarter to give Brockport a 1-0 lead.
 
The Saxton's would catch fire in the first half, scoring 10 of the next 11 goals in the contest, highlighted by a first-half hat trick from Josh Hauman to take a 10-2 advantage.
 
Goals from Nate Askin and Mike O'Brien to close out the first half would trim the Alfred to lead to 10-4 entering halftime.
 
The Golden Eagles would claw back in the third quarter, with goals from Daniel Wright and Nick Askin (2) bringing Brockport within 3 with 4:56 left in the third (10-7).
 
Alfred would put a stop to the Brockport run, with Kevin Matson's goal with 12 seconds remaining in the third putting the Saxton's back up by 4 (11-7).
 
The Saxton's would cruise to the final buzzer, outscoring Brockport 6-4 in the final frame to claim a 17-11 victory.
 
Four Saxton's would record a hat trick or better, including Cole Loewke (4), Owen Zimmerman (3), Kevin Matson (3), and Josh Hauman (3).
 
The brother duo of Nick Askin (4) and Nate Askin (3) both recorded hat tricks for the Green and Gold.
 
Tim Hubbard led Brockport with 5 ground balls, adding an assist on the offensive end.
 
Mike O'Brien buried two goals for the Golden Eagles on 6 total shots.
 
Goalie Gavin Miller made 12 saves across 60 minutes of action.
