Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team will begin conference play this week with a pair of contests. First the squad will host Fredonia on Wednesday at 4pm and then Brockport travels to New Paltz for an 11am game on Friday.
Heating Up: The Golden Eagles have won back-to-back close games to gain some momentum heading into SUNYAC play. They defeated St. Lawrence at home, 12-10, and then beat McDaniel on the road, 14-13. With the pair of wins the team improved to 3-3 overall just in time for conference play to begin.
Triple Threat: Brockport has three players currently with 15 or more goals scored through the first six games.
Cassidy Burnash leads the Green and Gold with 33 total points on 19 goals and 14 assists.
Alayna Foos also has scored 19 goals to go with three assists for 22 points.
Tristan Davis has tallied 17 points on 15 goals and two assists.
Winning Effort: Paige Thowe leads the team with 11 ground balls and has also come up with 15 draw controls. Davis has a team-best 25 draw controls, as her and Thowe have combined for 10 caused turnovers. Foos' eight caused turnovers leads Brockport.
Sarah Kilburn (13) and Burnash (11) both have double-digit draw controls so far.
Reed in Net: Freshman
Arianna Reed continues to be the lone goalie for the Green and Gold to play between the pipes this season. In six starts she has come up with 57 total saves and earned a record of 3-3.
SUNYAC Opponents: Conference play has officially arrived as the Golden Eagles are set to face Fredonia and New Paltz this week. The Fredonia Blue Devils are 5-7 overall heading into Wednesday's game, coming off two wins in a row. The New Paltz Hawks enter the week undefeated at 8-0 so far this season. Both teams begin SUNYAC play against Brockport in the next few days.
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will be back on their home turf for more conference action on Wednesday, April 3
rd. They will host Oswego State for a 4pm start.
