Box Score 2 Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team swept the Nazareth Golden Flyers on the road Friday evening. The squad took game one by a score of 7-3, before pulling out the second game 16-10. Brockport improves to 5-9 overall on the season.
Game 1: Brockport 7, Nazareth 3
The Golden Eagles got multi-hit games from three different players to start the doubleheader.
Danielle Wenzek (2-3),
Emma DeJesus (3-4), and
Aubrey Ennis (2-4) all had at least two hits. DeJesus also had two RBIs and two runs. Wenzek scored twice, while Ennis had one RBI.
Olivia Simone (1-4) hit her ninth double of the season and scored a run.
Tori Angelo (1-4) knocked a double for three RBIs in the third. Brockport got triples from
Paige Wentland (1-3, 1 R) and
Erin Dougherty (1-2, 1 RBI).
The Golden Eagles got going with two runs in the top of the first inning, thanks to DeJesus' single that knocked in two runs. Leading, 2-1, going into the third, they would take a comfortable lead with a big inning.
Brockport scored four runs in the third to take a 6-1 lead. Ennis hit an RBI single, before Angelo hit a base-clearing double to score three more runs. In the top of the seventh, DeJesus came in to score the team's final run of the contest.
Nazareth attempted to rally late in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of runs. However the Golden Flyers were not able to catch up to Brockport, as the Green and Gold took the win 7-3.
Hadley Alguire (W, 2-1) pitched a complete game victory for Brockport for her second win of the season. In 7.0 innings pitched she had five strikeouts and allowed just three earned runs.
Game 2: Brockport 16, Nazareth 10
The Golden Eagles and Golden Flyers put up a bunch of offense in the second game. Brockport had a season-high 19 hits on the way to the win.

Danielle Wenzek (2-6),
Kellie Gentile (3-5),
Paige Wentland (2-4),
Caitlyn Dailey (2-3), and
Natalie Faas (3-5) all had multiple hits.
Dailey and Wentland had extra base hits with a double and a triple respectively. Wenzek had a team-high three RBIs, while
Reagan Myers (1-3) had two RBIs of her own. DeJesus, Wentland, and Faas all came around to score three runs.
Although Nazareth got on the board first with a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Brockport had a big response in the second. The Green and Gold score eight runs in the top of the second. Dailey, Dougherty, Wenzek, Gentile, and Myers all had RBIs in the inning.
The Golden Eagle bats stayed hot as they added more runs in the third (1), fourth (1), and fifth (3) innings. Nazareth was able to get things going in the fourth with a pair of runs and soon closed the gap. The Golden Flyers rally would cut Brockport's lead down to just 13-10, going into the seventh inning.
The top of the seventh saw Brockport put the game away with more offense. The team scored three more runs to provide some extra cushion. Faas, Dougherty, and DeJesus all came home to put the game away, 16-10.
Kendall Phillips (W, 3-3) picked up the win as the starting pitcher. She went 6.0 total innings with 13 strikeouts on the day.
Fiona Gibiser chipped in with 1.0 inning of action in the circle.
The Golden Eagles are back on the road Saturday for another doubleheader. They will take on the University of Rochester for more non-conference action with 1pm and 3pm start times.
