New Paltz, NY – On Friday the Golden Eagle women's lacrosse team traveled for a SUNYAC matchup with New Paltz. Brockport fell to the Hawks, 11-8, moving to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference. New Paltz remains undefeated at 9-0 on the season and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.
Tristan Davis had a big day for the Green and Gold, scoring five goals to lead the offensive effort.
Alayna Foos scored twice in the contest, while
Cassidy Burnash (1A) and
Hailey Lewkovich (1G) each had one point.
On the defensive side of the action, the group of Davis, Foos,
Journey Naab, and
Julia Quinlan all had two caused turnovers.
Sarah Kilburn's two draw controls led the team in the game, while Davis led the way with three ground balls.
Arianna Reed came up with 10 saves for the Golden Eagles in the contest, playing the full 60 minutes in net.
It was a busy first quarter out in New Paltz, NY. The Hawks got on the board first, but Brockport quickly answered to make it a 1-1 score. Both teams would score two more times in the opening period to remain tied up (3-3) going into the second.
The Hawks dominated the second quarter, finding four unanswered goals prior to halftime. They held onto a 7-3 advantage going into the break.
Brockport flipped the script in the third, going on a 4-0 run to start the second half of play. Foos and Davis both scored twice to tie the game up at 7-7 heading into the final quarter.
With three goals early in the fourth, New Paltz retook the lead. The Golden Eagles added one more score from Davis soon after. However, another goal from the Hawks put the game away for the 11-8 final.
Brockport jumps back to its home field on Wednesday, April 3
rd for a 4pm meeting against Oswego.
