Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's lacrosse team will head to Rochester to face off with RIT on Wednesday, March 6
th at 4 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles dropped a hard-fought matchup at home against #19 Ithaca College, 16-12, on Saturday, March 2
nd. The Golden Eagles moved to 1-1 on the season following the loss.
Cassidy Burnash filled up the box score with an impressive outing to total seven points, racking up three goals, four assists, four draw controls, and three ground balls.
Tristan Davis and
Alayna Foos both found the back of the net twice, while
Paige Thowe had one goal in the contest.
Thowe made a strong impact with seven draw controls and Foos led the team with three caused turnovers.
The Golden Eagles regained control of the contest in the 2
nd half, outscoring the Bombers 8-6, but were unable to overcome the 10-4 halftime deficit.
Arianna Reed totaled 10 saves in net for Brockport in the loss.
Red Hot Start: In Brockport's first two outings,
Cassidy Burnash has gotten off to an incredible pace to begin the season. Coming off a 79-point season in 2023 (47 goals, 32 assists), Burnash has recorded a hat trick in both outings, adding three or more assists as well for 13 total points in two games (6 goals, 7 assists). Burnash has shown excellent shot accuracy as well, scoring on 75% of her shots and putting all eight of her shot attempts on net.
Creating Havoc: In addition to being two of Brockport's top-scoring threats,
Alayna Foos and
Paige Thowe have been just as effective on the defensive end. Foos and Thowe lead the Golden Eagles with four caused turnovers each, also combining for four ground balls and eight draw controls.
Scouting RIT: The Tigers have gotten off to a 1-1 start, most recently scoring a dominant 20-8 win at Nazareth last Saturday. RIT's scoring output has been balanced, with Serafina Kiselgof (6 goals) leading the charge of seven Tigers with three or more goals on the season. The head-to-head series has been dominated by Brockport, with the Golden Eagles taking eight of the last nine matchups dating back to 2010.
