Syracuse, NY: On Monday, April 1st, the SUNYAC conference announced its selections for the conference's Track Athletes of the Week.
Jared Smith and
Matthew Jackson were named SUNYAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week following victories in the 5,000m and hammer throw at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational last weekend.
Jared Smith earned SUNYAC Track Athlete of the Week following a historic performance in the men's 5000m, crossing the finish line first with his 14:38.67 mark. His 14:38.67 time marks a personal best and serves as the 2nd fastest outdoor 5k in program history.
Matthew Jackson received SUNYAC Field Athlete of the Week honors following an excellent performance in the men's hammer throw. Jackson finished 1st overall with his 58.15m throw, nearly 10m longer than the second-place finisher. His 58.15m mark serves as the 3rd longest hammer throw in program history.
