Cortland, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team lost on the road Saturday afternoon to the Cortland Red Dragons, 16-4. Brockport is now 7-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
In a tough loss,
Cassidy Burnash led the way for the Green and Gold. She scored three goals for a hat trick and came away with two draw controls.
Hailey Lewkovich also scored once in the contest.
Sarah Kilburn's hustle provided a team-high four draw controls.
Alayna Foos (4) led the team in ground balls, while
Paige Thowe had three of her own.
Arianna Reed made six saves and came up with three ground balls playing the full 60 minutes in net.
Cortland got on the board first and was able to create a 4-1 advantage in the first quarter. Burnash and Lewkovich both scored in the second for Brockport, but the Red Dragons held a 7-3 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Cortland blew the game wide open with seven goals while keeping Brockport off the board in the period. The Golden Eagles entered the fourth quarter trailing, 14-3. Cortland marched on through the fourth for the 16-4 win.
Brockport looks to bounce back on Wednesday, April 17
th against Geneseo for a 4pm road matchup.
