Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team will finish up the regular season with three consecutive home doubleheaders this week. It all begins with Geneseo coming to town on Wednesday, May 1
st for a 3pm start to the pair of conference games.
Weekend Series: The Golden Eagles will also be hosting both Oneonta and New Paltz this weekend. On Friday, May 3
rd the Red Dragons come to Brockport for another SUNYAC doubleheader. Game one is set for a 3pm start at the Clark V. Whited Complex. Then on Saturday, May 4
th Brockport will host New Paltz for a 12pm start to the final doubleheader of the regular season.
Dumaw Day & Senior Day: On Saturday, Brockport will have multiple events to celebrate at the Clark V. Whited Complex. After being rescheduled from mid-April, the program will celebrate Dumaw Day on Saturday. Recently retired Head Coach John Dumaw will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before game one, as Brockport softball honors its all-time winningest coach. Tori Angelo,
Emma DeJesus, and
Rose Stroh as they celebrate Senior Day.
Among the Best in the SUNYAC: Multiple players for Brockport rank highly within the conference heading into the final week of play.
Olivia Simone is tied for first in the SUNYAC with 15 doubles and her .522 slugging percentage is good for ninth in the conference. With an on base percentage of .425,
Kellie Gentile is just outside the top ten within the conference. Pitcher
Kendall Phillips leads the SUNYAC with 120 strikeouts this season.
Swing Away: The Golden Eagles have six players currently batting over .300 on the year, as the team is led by
Riley Barrett's .339 average.
Olivia Simone (.333),
Grace Talbut (.333),
Emma DeJesus (.328),
Kellie Gentile (.324), and
Caitlyn Dailey (.314) all are over .300 for the Green and Gold. Simone (30), Gentile (22), Barrett (21), and DeJesus (20) are leading the team in hits.
Paige Wentland's 16 RBIs is first on the squad ahead of Simone (15), DeJesus (11), and
Aubrey Ennis (10).
The Pitching Staff: Freshman
Kendall Phillips (5-6) has seen the most action, pitching 83.2 innings this season. In eight starts she has thrown three complete games, including a shutout win over Fredonia last week.
Hadley Alguire (3-6) has made 12 starts in the circle on the way to 38.2 innings pitched.
Fiona Gibiser (0-6) has also seen plenty of action, going 41.1 innings for the team.
SUNYAC Picture: With just six games left in the regular season, Brockport is hoping to fight for one of the final two postseason spots available for the SUNYAC Tournament.
