Center Valley, PA – On Friday night, the Golden Eagle volleyball team opened the season with a 3-1 win over DeSales University to start off the weekend. Starting 2024 off at 1-0, Brockport is back in action with a pair of matches on Saturday.
Both teams battled for each point in all four sets, as each one was decided by four or less points. Brockport took the first two points of the night, winning the first two sets 25-22 and 27-25. DeSales prevented the sweep with a 26-24 win in the third, before Brockport sealed the win in the fourth by a score of 25-21.
In her debut with the Green and Gold,
Anna Cascapera led the squad with 14.5 total points in the match. She totaled nine kills, four aces, and three block assists.
Maddy Howell (12.5 points) and
Lauren Emke (12.0 points) competed in the middle with 10 kills each and a combined total of nine block assists.
Elsie Logan came up with a match-high 17 digs with her hustle defensively.
Lauryn Forand finished with nine digs to go with her 20 assists offensively. Forand was behind only her teammate
Kaitlyn Jewett, who led all players with 24 assists.
The action of opening weekend continues down in Pennsylvania on Saturday for the Golden Eagles. They are set to face Stevenson at 12pm and Rutgers-Camden at 2pm to close out the trip.
