Field Hockey Rolls Past Allegheny, 4-0

Meadville, PA- The Brockport field hockey team ended its weekend in Pennsylvania with a convincing 4-0 win over Allegheny on Sunday, September 1st. The Golden Eagles moved to 2-0 in the young season.

Kelsey Zehr kickstarted the offense early for Brockport, finding paydirt twice in the opening period to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. Freshman Allison Greene picked up her first points as a Golden Eagle, assisting on both of Zehr's goals.

Despite a scoreless second period, Brockport dominated in the shots department. The squad outshot the Gators 9-0 in the period, and 18-2 in the first half.

Allison Greene would build on her strong outing, scoring her first collegiate goal in the third period. Greene received the assist from Kalena Eaton.

With a firm 3-0 advantage in the final frame, Kalena Eaton effectively put the game away the team's fourth score.  She netted an unassisted goal with 10:40 remaining to give Brockport the 4-0 win.

Allison Greene would finish the contest with a goal and two assists (4 points), adding three shots on goal.

Kelsey Zehr would finish with two goals and six shots on goal, adding a defensive save on the lone Allegheny shot on goal. With three goals in two games to begin the season, Zehr has already matched her goal output from the 2023 season.

Kalena Eaton had herself a big day, scoring three points(1G, 1A), with three shots on goal.

Paige Thowe would add four shots on goal across six total shots in the contest.

The Brockport defense made life easy for Ella Buchanan (2-0), picking up her second shutout win of the season.

The Golden Eagles finished the day outshooting Allegheny 33 (21SOG) to 5 (1SOG) in an excellent performance.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will host the University of Rochester for home-opener action on Thursday, September 5th at 5 p.m.
