Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team lost Friday night's matchup against Amherst College, on day one of the U of R Invitational. Dropping the match, 3-1, Brockport is now 4-3 overall heading into a pair of matches on Saturday.
 
Amherst came right out of the gate with a 25-15 win in the first set to go up 1-0. It quickly became a 2-0 lead after Brockport lost the second set, 25-21. Preventing the sweep, the Golden Eagles fought hard for a 29-27 win in the third. However, they couldn't pull it off again in the fourth. Amherst won the final set, 25-17, to claim the 3-1 win.
 
Alexis Sison and Alenna Williamson were once again two of the go-to options offensively for Brockport. Sison had 18 kills to lead the way, while Williamson was close behind with 12. Both players finished with 30 or more total attempts in the match. Sison also chipped in with nine digs, one ace, and a block assist.
 
A trio of Golden Eagles were credited with double-digit digs on Friday night. Elsie Logan posted a team-high 17, Gianna Felipe had 13 in the match, and Kaitlyn Jewett had 10. Jewett had a strong night serving with seven aces and had a team-high 25 assists.
 
Brockport is back in action at the U of R Invitational against the hosting Yellowjackets to start Saturday's slate, beginning at 11am. Then the squad will play its final match of the weekend at 3pm against Buffalo State.
