Volleyball Drops Saturday's Pair at U of R Invitational

Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team lost both matches on Saturday to conclude play at the U of R Invitational. Following losses to U of R and Buffalo State, the Golden Eagles are now 4-5 overall on the season.
 
Following the conclusion of play out in Rochester, Elsie Logan was named to the U of R Invitational All-Tournament Team. She led all players throughout the weekend in total digs with 61 and with a 5.55 digs per set average.
 
Brockport 1, U of R 3 – Match 1 Final
 
The Yellowjackets took the first set, 25-23, before Brockport bounced back in the second, 25-20. Tied up at 1-1, Rochester went on to win a tough 26-24 set in the third. Then the hosting squad finished off the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth.
 
Alexis Sison and Anna Cascapera both had eight kills to lead the offensive effort. Kaitlyn Jewett had 23 assists as the Brockport setter. Gianna Felipe made an impact with sour service aces and 10 digs.
 
Elsie Logan had 25 digs to lead the team defensively. Maddy Howell got up for two solo and six block assists in the middle. Lauren Emke had one solo and five block assists, while Alenna Williamson had six block assists of her own.
 
Brockport 0, Buffalo State 3 – Match 2 Final
 
The final match of the weekend ended up being a sweep in favor of the Buffalo State Bengals. They won three straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-23, and 25-17.
 
Leading the team in kills once again was Sison with 10 against eh Bengals. Logan had a team-high in digs again with 19 this time to go with two aces. Kaitlyn Jewett (18) and Lauryn Forand (9) combined for 27 assists.
 
Gianna Felipe helped on the defensive side of things with 13 digs. Kaylee Dickerson-Holly and Lauren Emke both had two block assists. Howell and Williamson each had solo blocks from the middle of the floor.
 
The Golden Eagles are away from home yet again next weekend. They will travel to compete at the Oswego State Invitational on September 20th and 21st.
