Golden Eagles Pull Out Win Over Morrisville in Five Sets

Oswego - The SUNY Brockport volleyball team picked up a tight victory against the Morrisville Mustangs on Friday night, 3-2. Brockport is now 5-5 overall, with two more games on Saturday at the Oswego Invitational.
 

The Mustangs got off to a strong start against Brockport, taking the first two sets of the match. They took set one, 25-17, to go up 1-0, following that up with a 25-19 win in the second for the 2-0 lead.
 

Brockport bounced back in the third to make it a 2-1 score, winning the set 25-20. The Golden Eagles looked great in the fourth set, marching through for a 25-11 win.

With the match tied up at 2-2, both teams fought hard in the tie breaking set. After trailing, Brockport rallied back to steal the fifth set, 15-13. The squad begins the weekend at Oswego with the 3-2 win.

Alexis Sison led a group of four Golden Eagles with more than 20 attempts. Sison had a team-high nine kills on 29 attempts. Anna Cascapera (27 TA) and Maddy Howell (20 TA) both had eight kills. Alenna Williamson rounded out the group (26 TA) with seven kills.

Kaitlyn Jewett and Lauryn Forand rotated in as setters for the Green and Gold. Jewett led the way with 21 assists, while Forand had 16.

Defensively, three players were credited with double-digit digs. Elsie Logan notched a team-high 18 digs, Gianna Felipe had 16, and Sison finished with 10.

Maddy Howell led the middle blocker group with two solo and six assisted blocks in the match. Cascapera got up for one solo block and four assisted blocks.

The Golden Eagles are back in action at the Oswego Invitational on Saturday for matchups against SUNY Canton (2pm) and Penn State Behrend (4pm).
