Field Hockey Trounces Morrisville on Senior Day, 8-0

Brockport, NY - The Brockport field hockey team put together a dominant performance on Senior Day, defeating Morrisville 8-0 on Sunday, September 15th. The Golden Eagles improved to 3-2 on the season following the win.

Before the start of the contest, a ceremony was held honoring nine seniors for their contributions to the Brockport field hockey program. These seniors included Tiffany Andres, Ella Buchanan, Abby Chalmers, Quinn Guy, Emmalee Moore, Gianna Salerno, Paige Thowe, Mary Young, and Kelsey Zehr.

Senior's Paige Thowe and Kelsey Zehr opened the scoring for Brockport, scoring the game's first two goals. Both goals assisted by Samantha Choate and Allison Greene on corner opportunities.

The seniors found the back of the net early and often, with Tiffany Andres burying a Kalena Eaton feed to extend the Brockport lead to 3-0 in the second period.

Rounding out the scoring in the first half, freshman Allison Greene tallied her third and fourth points of the half with a goal at the 28:56 mark. Brockport led 4-0 going into the break.

Much like the first half, the Golden Eagles would continue to dominate in the second. Senior Gianna Salerno opened the second half scoring with her goal in the third period. Just over three minutes later, Tiffany Andres netted her second goal of the game to extend the Brockport lead to 6-0.

Already up by six going into the fourth, Brockport added a couple more before it was all over. With less than three minutes left in the contest, Gianna Salerno and Paige Thowe each provided a goal to give Brockport an 8-0 win.

The Golden Eagles dominated all facets of the contest, outshooting Morrisville 55 to 1 across 60 minutes of action (37 to 1 SOG).

Morrisville goalie Emmaly Noeller was strong in defeat, making 28 saves in the contest.

Gianna Salerno (2G), Paige Thowe (2G), Tiffany Andres (2G), and Allison Greene (1G, 2A) all registered four points in the contest.

In true senior day fashion, Brockport seniors were responsible for seven of the eight goals scored on the day.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will host Ithaca on Wednesday, September 18th at 7 p.m.
