Brockport, NY - The Brockport field hockey team overcame an early deficit to defeat Roberts Wesleyan, 5-1, in the Turn the Turf Teal game for Ovarian Cancer Awareness on Wednesday, September 25
th. The Golden Eagles moved to 5-3 on the season following the win.

Following a scoreless opening period, the Redhawks found the back of the net on their first shot thanks to a Makena Tooley unassisted goal.

With Roberts leading 1-0 late in the second period,
Gianna Salerno gave Brockport some much-needed momentum. Salerno buried a
Kelsey Zehr feed to tie the game at 1-1 with just 14 seconds left in the first half.

The Golden Eagles took over in the second half, outshooting the Redhawks 14 to 1 to close out the contest.

At the 42:10 mark,
Samantha Choate gave Brockport a 2-1 edge in the third period, with
Tiffany Andres chipping in on the assist.

The Green and Gold would pull away in the fourth, with unassisted goals from
Paige Thowe and
Kelsey Zehr. These goals gave Brockport a comfortable 4-1 lead with just 3:12 remaining.

Putting the cherry on top,
Emmalee Moore found
Kalena Eaton for Brockport's fifth and final goal at the 58:04 mark.
Five different Golden Eagles found the back of the net, with seven players adding a point on the stat sheet.

Paige Thowe led all players with three shots on goal (1G) in a strong effort.

Ella Buchanan returned between the pipes for Brockport, picking up the win and playing all 60 minutes (1 save).

Kelsey Zehr led the way with a game-high three points (1G, 1A), adding two shots on goal.
