Guy Nets Game-Winner in 2OT for Coach Archambeau's 50th Career Win

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team defeated Houghton, 3-2, in double-overtime at home on Saturday. The Golden Eagles improve to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8 after their third straight win.

With today's victory, Head Coach Krista Archambeau hits the milestone of 50 wins for her career at Brockport.

Allison Greene scored a pair of goals for the Green and Gold in this one. First she scored unassisted in the opening period to put Brockport up 1-0. The freshman then found the back of the net once again in the second half, assisted by Paige Thowe.

Up 2-0 early on in the fourth quarter, the Houghton Highlanders got going late in response. They made it a 2-1 score with about five minutes left to play, making it a one score game.

Getting one final penalty corner to end regulation, Houghton made good on the opportunity to tie the game up at 2-2. After the goal to end the fourth quarter, this E8 contest was headed to overtime.

After the first 10 minutes overtime period saw no scoring, the match headed into a second overtime period. With less than three minutes to play, the Golden Eagles would find the golden goal.

Quinn Guy scored the game-winning goal for Brockport to give them the 3-2 victory at home. Guy received a feed from Terralyn McLaughlin, and lasered the ball past the Houghton goalie.

Brockport looks to build on its hot streak with another home game up next. The squad will host Keuka for a 4pm start on Wednesday, October 2nd.
