Women's Soccer Continues Historical Start with 8th Straight Shutout

Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's soccer team shutout the Hartwick Hawks, 4-0, at home for an eighth straight shutout to start the 2024 season. The Golden Eagles remain undefeated at7-0-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play while celebrating Girls Youth Soccer Day with the win.

Sitting undefeated eight games into the season, Brockport extends its historical start as one of the best in program history. The 2024 Golden Eagles are off to the program's fourth ever undefeated start through eight games (1983, 2007, 2012), but stand alone by allowing zero goals during the streak.

It was a slow start for both teams until the Golden Eagles took charge. Amelia Breton found the back of the net at 40:35 with an unassisted goal to open up the scoring. Only four minutes later, Jaylah Cossin scored with an assist from Sierra Edwards bringing the score up to 2-0 going into halftime.

15 minutes into the second half, Lyndsey Miller shot a rocket and scored with an unassisted goal for her first of the 2024 season. Miller then got a head on the ball for another goal, this time assisted by Jaylah Cossin. Miller scored two late goals within minutes of each other, putting Brockport up for good at 4-0.

The squad had a total of 25 shots for the match, with 13 on goal in comparison to the Hawks with just three total and two on net.

In between the pipes for the Green and Gold was Madeline McCrosson for a total of 90 minutes. With two saves in the game, she secured her third solo shutout of the year.

Coming Up – The Golden Eagles are on the road next week with two games. On Wednesday, October 2nd the team will travel to Houghton at 7:30 to face the Highlanders. On Saturday, October 5th they will head to Utica to face SUNY Poly at 3pm.
