Golden Eagles Dominate Thiel on Home Turf

Brockport, NY – On Saturday, the SUNY Brockport women's soccer team dominated Thiel College, 6-0, in non-conference play. The Golden Eagles are now 2-0-1 to start the season.

At home on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field, Brockport controlled the game from start to finish. The squad fired 27 shots on goal, 49 total shots, and did not allow a single shot attempt to the Tomcats.

Only 1:07 into the match, Brockport's Felicity Contento poked the ball past the opposing keeper to open up the scoring. Contento's first career goal was assisted by Lyndsey Miller, as both get their first point of the year.

At 10:10, Sierra Edwards added to the Green and Gold lead on the scoreboard. Assisted by Maryalice Skutnik, Edwards made it a 2-0 lead with her third goal of the season. Skutnik now has two assists so far this year to lead the team.

The Golden Eagles found the back of the net twice more before halftime. First it was Jaylah Cossin at the 17:37 mark, scoring unassisted to give them a 3-0 advantage. Then at 42:14, Autumn Edwards scored from an assist by Katie Hotaling to make it a 4-0 halftime lead.

Following the break, Brockport continued its dominance controlling the ball. Already up 4-0, the home team would go on to score two more goals to put the game way out of reach.

Madyson Whalen would score the first goal of her collegiate career at the 63:43 mark of the game. She was assisted on the play by Autumn Edwards, as the Green and Gold went up 5-0. Amelia Breton put the cherry on top at 69:11, dribbling past the goalie on a breakaway and scoring the easy 6-0 goal.
