BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team routed SUNY Poly by a score of 91-36 on Tuesday afternoon in the We Back Pat Alzheimer's Awareness game. The Golden Eagles improved to 11-2 on the season, with a 4-0 slate in Empire 8 play.
Now with an 11-2 mark, Head Coach Corinne Jones is off to the best start of her career with the Golden Eagles. They are currently off to the program's best start since the 2007-08 season (12-2 start), which saw Brockport claim a SUNYAC Title and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Winning by 55, this was the largest margin of victory by the Golden Eagles of the season, as they earn a fifth straight win.
In just 14 minutes played, Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led all scorers with 16 points, shooting an efficient 7-11 from the field and 2-4 from three.
Kaileigh Hunt collected her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She was a remarkable 9-10 from the free throw line.

It was a fast-paced start to the contest with both teams applying pressure and forcing turnovers. Poly held strong with a 5-4 lead after five minutes of play. After a tough stretch of shooting for Brockport in the opening minutes, the Golden Eagles found their stride and finished the quarter with an 18-5 lead.
The Golden Eagles tenacious defense would hold Poly to a nine-minute scoring drought as the lead increased to 27-5 before the Wildcats saw another one go through. Brockport's full court press forced SUNY Poly to commit 19 first half turnovers, while shooting only 3-28 from the field.
Going into halftime, Brockport led 42-8.
After being up by 34 after halftime, Brockport silenced any remaining hope that Poly had of making it a game by scoring a season-high 30 points in the third. The Golden Eagles finished the frame with a massive 50-point lead.
Despite the game being out of reach long ago, the Wildcats fought until the end, putting up 14 points in the closing quarter bringing the game to its 91-36 finish.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Friday, January 17th at 5:30 p.m. in Elmira for a matchup against the Soaring Eagles.
