Brockport, NY – The wrestling team traveled to Jamestown Community College to compete in the Jamestown Jayhawk Open where they had strong performances against 26 other teams.
Vandavian Way had an impressive third place finish in the 165lb division earning 17.0 points on the day. In the Champ. Round 1, Way won by a 4-0 decision and went on to win by tech fall and by fall in the Cons. Round 2 and 3 and the Cons. Semi. Way won by a 9-3 decision over Keith Mincin of Mercyhurst.
Jonathan Guyette had a day at 133 after he earned 16.5 points good for a second-place finish. Guyette started off the day with a bye and won by tech fall and fall in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Landon Bainey of Edinboro Unattached won by fall in the 1
st Place Match.
At 125,
Dylan Levine brought in 4.5 points for the team after a win by fall in the Champ. Round 2. Levine took the decided win in the Cons. Round 4 of 6-1.
In the 157lb weight class,
Samuel Zeigler scored a total of 4.0 points after winning by injury default in the Champ. Round 2 at 3:00.
Austin Boff (157) earned 3.5 points for the team after an 11-6 decision win in the Champ. Round 1. Boff snagged another win by fall in the Cons. Round 2 just 1:27 into the match.
Kevin Regan took a win by fall at 2:16 into the match at 165 scoring 3.0 points for the Green and Gold.
Haydin Perez also earned 3.0 points for the team after receiving a Bye in Cons. Round 1 and taking a win by injury default in Cons. Round 2.
Dylan Nolan brought in 2.5 team points in the 141lb weight class after a win by tech fall in the Cons. Round 2 and a 7-0 decision win in Cons. Round 3.
In the 157lb division,
Dominick Parente scored 2.5 points for the Golden Eagles after a win by fall just 1:55 into Cons. Round 2 match.
At 174
Khol Kalfass earned 2.0 points from a tech fall win of 18-3 in the Cons. Round 1. Ej Bonet also contributed 2.0 points from a decided win in the Cons. Round 1 and a major decision win in the Cons. Round 2.
