BROCKPORT, N.Y- The Brockport Field Hockey team was defeated on the road at Hartwick, 5-1, on Saturday, October 11th. The Golden Eagles fell to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 contests following the loss.
Both defenses would control the opening period, with both teams combining for just one shot on goal. Both offenses would come alive in the second period.
The Hawks would get on the board in a hurry, with Kayla Kinkel scoring just 49 seconds into the second period to put Hartwick up 1-0.
Brockport would record four shots on goal in the period, but would be unable to get on the scoreboard.
Ava Sanchez,
Cassidy Pado,
Terralyn McLaughlin, and
Sophia Jones would create scoring chances in the period.
Hartwick would double its lead going into halftime, with Kendal Woolley finding the back of the net for the Hawks.
Entering the third period, the Hawks would add two more goals in the quarter. Despite a variety of scoring chances for Brockport, Hartwick would take a 4-0 lead into the fourth period.
At the 47:43 mark of the contest,
Terralyn McLaughlin would strike for her team's leading fifth goal of the season. Adding the assist on the McLaughlin goal,
Clare Devine would record her first assist of the season.
Hartwick would end the potential comeback bid, adding another goal in the fourth to secure a 5-1 victory.
Katelynn Banning picked up the start for Brockport, playing all 60 minutes and making nine saves on the afternoon.
Sophia Jones,
Terralyn McLaughlin, and
Ava Sanchez led Brockport with two shots on goal each.
