BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The women's soccer team shone under the lights, bringing home a 2-1 victory over the Alfred Saxons. The Golden Eagles advance to 10-0-3 overall and stay perfect at 8-0-0 in conference play, achieving the program's first undefeated record through 13 games.
Brockport seized early momentum, with Caitlin Nelson netting the opener, assisted by Megan Gerber. Alfred pushed back, unleashing four shots on the Green and Gold defense in the rest of the first half compared to Brockport's two, while holding a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. The Golden Eagles' backline stood tall, preserving the lead into halftime.
The second half flipped the script, as Brockport dominated possession and outshot Alfred 4-2. With 15 minutes remaining, the Saxons tied it via a corner kick goal from Sidney Khuns, assisted by Abby Scanlan. Just seven minutes later, Amelia Breton responded with the go-ahead strike, securing the 2-1 win with seven minutes left.
Goalkeeper Emily McCane started between the posts, notching a save, before Madeline McCrosson took over after halftime for the duration. McCane remained undefeated with a 5-0-2 record on the season.
With the victory, the Golden Eagles have posted a nearly perfect 14-0-1 record in their last 15 home games. For the third straight year, Mike Idland has led the Golden Eagles to a 10+ win season.
Amelia Breton paced the attack, firing three shots with two on goal. Caitlin Nelson added a shot on target, while Megan Gates and Elyssa Barnhart each logged one shot.
Senior Day: The Green and Gold return home Saturday, Oct. 18, to host Elmira College at 1 p.m. while honoring seniors. They then close non-conference play Tuesday, Oct. 21, against Penn State Behrend at 4 p.m.
