Alfred, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team won its seventh straight match on Friday night, defeating Alfred University, 3-1, on the road. Now at 7-1 in the E8 and 14-7 overall, Brockport returns home Saturday to for another conference clash against Houghton.
In some back and forth action to start the match, Brockport outlasted Alfred in the first set, 25-22. The Saxons would bounce back to even the score up at 1-1, taking the second set 25-20.
It was all Brockport from there. The Golden Eagles won the third set, 25-16, and dominated the fourth set, 25-5. In the final set of the night, Brockport went on an 18-0 run before allowing the Saxons to score their first point of the set.
Kaitlyn Jewett matched her career-high of seven service aces in the match. To go with her season-best serving performance she racked up 34 assists and 12 digs.
Both
Madisen Jones and
Luba Butcher were credited with 12 kills on the night. Jones boasted a .440 attack percentage against the Saxons. Butcher did it all with two aces, nine digs, and five block assists.
Alexis Sison added 11 kills for the Green and Gold attack with a healthy .308 attack percentage. Sison also came up with 11 digs.
Gianna Felipe led the squad in the match with 13 digs as the Brockport libero.
Alenna Williamson and
Ana Parella were both effective above the net defensively. Each got hands up for four block assists against this E8 foe on the road.
Back home at The Vlog on Saturday, the Golden Eagles will take on the Houghton Highlanders for a 2pm start.
