Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team claimed its eighth victory in a row on Saturday, defeating Houghton at home, 3-0. Brockport improves to 8-1 in the Empire 8 and 15-7 overall.
The Golden Eagles were able to jump out to a 1-0 lead, taking the first set, 25-18, against the Highlanders. Houghton held on to a narrow edge on the scoreboard for most of the second set. However, Brockport rallied late to steal the set, 25-22. The third set was Brockport all the way, with the squad cruising to a 25-8 win to complete the sweep.
The Golden Eagles improved to 6-1 playing at home in The Vlog this season. Riding an 8-match win streak, they have five sweeps during this span of games.
With a big game on the outside,
Alexis Sison led the Green and Gold with 15 kills offensively. She also added three aces and seven digs.
Madisen Jones got up for nine kills, while
Alenna Williamson totaled eight.
Kaitlyn Jewett played her role well as the Golden Eagle setter. She finished with 35 assists to go with two aces, four digs, and one kill.
Gianna Felipe was credited with a team-high 15 digs playing as the Brockport libero.
The Golden Eagles remain tied for second in the Empire 8 standings heading into the final week of the regular season. They will be back home at The Vlog next weekend for matchups against Sage on Friday at 6pm and Hartwick on Saturday at 2pm.
