Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team took the 0-0 draw against the Utica Pioneers on the road today. This takes the team to 11-1-4 overall and keeps their undefeated conference record of 9-0-1.
The Golden Eagles and Pioneers fought for the ball in the first period, with Brockport leading in shots with three and Utica falling just behind with two.
Dinah Gifford got her foot on the ball first with a shot on goal.
Diane Lange added in a shot, and
Amelia Breton almost found the back of the net, but her shot was saved. Brockport and Utica also tied for corner kick opportunities with two.
Coming back from the halftime break, the second half was much like the first, with the Green and Gold and the Pioneers tying in shots with four each, and tying in corner kicks yet again with two each.
The squad had a strong last 15 minutes, putting the pressure on the Utica defense with
Lucy Crounse and Lynsdey Miller each putting up a shot on goal and
Amelia Breton and
Diane Lange each
adding one to their shot total.
Ella Camalleri and
Lena Turaj each stayed hot on the field, playing a total of 90 minutes while defending for the Golden Eagles.
Goalkeeper
Emily McCane was in between the pipes defending the net for the first half, making two saves.
Madeline McCrosson took second shift in goal, also making a total of two saves.
Next Week – Brockport is set to host SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday, October 29
th at 4pm for the last matchup before the Empire 8 Championships which will take place on Saturday, November 1
st.
