Golden Eagles Clinch E8 Regular Season Title Following Shutout at Home

Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team finished up the last regular season matchup against the Geneseo Knights with a 2-0 victory. The Golden Eagles finish undefeated in conference play for the second time in program history (2006) with a 10-0-1 record.

In back-to-back seasons, the Golden Eagles have claimed the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship.

Brockport brought the heat early to start the game on a high note. Lyndsey Miller took the open opportunity and found the back of the net unassisted to open the scoring. The Green and Gold maintained possession, putting the pressure on the Knights' defensive line with a total of 12 shots over Geneseo's four. Brockport also remained on top in corner kick opportunities with four compared to the Knights' one.

Emily McCane was in net for Brockport for the first half, keeping it scoreless going into the second with one save.

Coming back from the halftime break, Geneseo put up a tough fight, keeping control over the ball, but it was no match for Brockport's offense. Amelia Breton snuck the ball past the Knights' goalkeeper to finish out the contest with a 2-0 lead. Brockport had a total of seven shots in the second period, with Geneseo following closely behind with six, and took the lead in corner kicks with four compared to the Golden Eagles' one.

Goalkeeper Madeline McCrosson was in between the pipes to finish out the game and made a total of four saves to keep the shutout score.

Kaitlyn Spring showed out, taking a massive six shots with two on goal. Lyndsey Miller also had a day on the turf, taking a total of four shots with two on goal.

Amelia Breton followed suit with three shots and two on goal.

With the victory, head coach Mike Idland has guided the Golden Eagles to three consecutive 12+ win seasons. Since joining the Empire 8 in 2024, Brockport has posted a 20-1-1 record against conference opponents.
