Brockport, NY - The Brockport Women's Tennis team is set to close out the regular season with its last home contest of the fall against Geneseo on Wednesday, October 8th, at 4 p.m. The Golden Eagles will look to utilize their home-court advantage as they seek to finish the home schedule on a high note against a challenging Knights squad.
Last Week's Recap: The Golden Eagles faced a tough road test last week, falling to Houghton 6-1. Despite the overall result, Brockport showed fight, particularly in singles action. Gianna Masker was able to secure a point for the Golden Eagles, pulling away with a nail-biting three-set victory, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, in fifth singles action, showcasing her resilience on the court.
Dominant Duo Spotlight: While the team has suffered unfortunate losses, the doubles team of Olivia Chiu and Leah Banes continued to prove themselves as a dominant force in the Empire 8. In the most recent outing against Houghton, the duo improved to an impressive 5-1 in doubles on the season. Their consistent performance and strong chemistry make them a pivotal pair for the Golden Eagles as they close out the regular season.
Scouting the Knights: The Geneseo Knights arrive at Brockport with an impressive 6-2 overall record, including a strong 4-1 stamp in E8 play. In their last outing, they defeated Houghton on the road 6-1, and they swept Utica and Nazareth at home in the two games before that, demonstrating their current momentum.
The Knights boast a strong lineup across the board, including freshman standout Lauren Levatino, who is 6-1 in singles action. The lineup also consists of junior Natalie Pipes and sophomore JoAnn Catalano, who both stand at 5-2 in singles play, and juniors Samantha Rava and Talia Wutz who both hold a solid record of 5-1. The top of the singles and doubles ladders will certainly be a key area to watch in Wednesday's contest.
