Senior Day Ceremony: Saturday is Senior Day for the Golden Eagles, so prior to kickoff there will be a brief ceremony to recognize this year's senior class. Tentatively scheduled for 1:35pm, come on out to Bob Boozer Field early enough to help us celebrate the Golden Eagle seniors for 2025.
Last Time Out: Brockport football was handed its third loss of the season on Saturday, falling on the road against No. 20 Cortland, 44-14. Brockport moves to 4-2 in E8 play and 6-3 overall on the season. The turnover story proved to play a major factor, with the Red Dragons winning the turnover battle, 4-1. All four takeaways by Cortland resulted in touchdowns, leading Cortland to claiming its fifth straight Empire 8 Title.
Brockport's offense outgained Cortland's, 336-262, in the contest but was only able to find the endzone twice. Simmons rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries, averaging 6.3 yards a touch. He scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, including a 44-yard scamper in the second quarter. The Golden Eagle defense held Cortland to well below its season average of yardage, keeping the Red Dragons to 262 yards of total offense. They also forced a turnover by way of a fumble in the first quarter. However, Cortland's Mike Rescigno made every play he needed to on the way to a 5-touchdown performance (3 passing, 2 rushing).
Top Tier Rushing Threat: Brockport's
Isaiah Simmons has proven himself to be one of the best ball carries in all of Division III football this season. Having his second straight 1,000-yard season on the ground, Simmons ranks highly in several statistical categories as the team's star running back:

Through the Air: Ben Gocella is looking to end his junior season on a high note following a tough outing last week. On the season, Brockport's signal caller has totaled 1,818 yards and 16 touchdowns on a 68.22% completion rate. His favorite target in 2025 has been
Daniel Manneh, who has racked up 788 yards and seven scores on 56 catches.
Leading Tacklers: Brockport has three players on defense who have led the charge to the ball carrier all season.
Luca Friedman leads the team with 56 total tackles, including 27 solo tackles.
Nazhier Wilson is second for the Green and Gold with 44 tackles. Leading the team with 28 solo stops from the secondary,
Liam Nealy has 43 total stops on the season.
Chasing the QB: Luca Friedman and
Kanye Davis lead the pass rushing effort for the Brockport defense. Friedman has 3.5 sacks on the season to go with five QB hurries. Davis also has 3.5 sacks, adding three QB hurries.
Nazhier Wilson has beaten his blocks for five hurries as well.
Alan Ramirez-Jimenez has gotten in on the action for 3.0 sacks and
Jayson Thomas has 2.5.
Looking at Utica: The Pioneers enter Saturday's contest 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Empire 8 play. They are currently on a 4-game win streak, and hope to earn a shot at an at-large NCAA bid with a win over Brockport to close the regular season. The Pioneers offense is led by QB Tyler Szalkowski, who ranks fourth in the nation with 2,963 passing yards. He has thrown for 27 touchdowns with just four interceptions, completing 71.61% of his pass attempts. His top target is Bryce Palmer, who has totaled 70 catches for 823 yards and eight touchdowns. The tight end, Logan Frederick, leads the offense with 10 touchdown receptions. Defensively, defensive back Eli Douglas has been a problem for opposing offenses. Douglas has five interceptions on the season. Isaiah Thomas leads the team with an astounding 81 total tackles for the Pioneers.
Matchup Preview: Over the last 10 meetings between these two programs, Brockport owns the advantage, 7-3, in the head to head series. All-time, the Golden Eagles own a record of 9-3 against the Utica Pioneers. Last year Brockport took the win on the road, 20-10, for back to back wins in this matchup. Utica is looking for its first win over Brockport since a 35-21 win back in 2022.
