Women's Basketball Routs Mount St. Mary, 94-64

BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team earned its first victory of the season, downing Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, 94-64, on Friday, November 14th. The Golden Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season after the non-conference win. 

Stephanie Jean-Baptiste paced the Brockport offense, dropping a game-high 26 points with six rebounds, shooting an efficient 9 of 15 from the floor (3-6 3PT). 

The first quarter would prove to be a tight affair, with Brockport taking a three-point lead into the second quarter. The Knights would hold a 20-17 edge with 1:55 left in the first quarter before buckets from Lila Lovgren, Mandy Brink, and SJB would put Brockport back in front. 

The second quarter showcased multiple lead changes, with neither team able to break away. Down three with 3:25 left in the first half, the Golden Eagles' offense would rally once again. Madison Misser would connect from deep to tie the game at 38-38, followed by buckets from Claire Turner and Peyton Maneri. Jackie Kozakiewicz would swing the momentum going into halftime, lacing a three-pointer to give the Green and Gold a five-point lead at halftime.

Coming out of the halftime break, the Brockport defense would turn the contest into a blowout, holding Mount Saint Mary's to just six points in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles' offense and defense worked in perfect unison, outscoring the Knights 24-6 in the quarter to jump ahead by 23 entering the final frame.

Brockport's offensive attack would stay consistent throughout, scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter to seal the dominant win. The Green and Gold would score 22 or more in all four quarters of the contest.

The turnover margin told the story of the contest, with Brockport forcing 30 turnovers to Mount Saint Mary's 15. Peyton Maneri would lead all players with four steals, adding seven points, four assists, and six rebounds. Nine different Golden Eagles would snag a steal in the contest.

Brianna Carey displayed effective shooting for Brockport, dropping 15 points (5-9 FG) with three rebounds and three assists. Carey finished a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line. 

Jackie Kozakiewicz made the most of her minutes, scoring ten points off the bench on 50% shooting from deep (2-4), and 4-4 at the free throw line. Nine different Golden Eagles finished with 5+ points on the evening.
