Box Score BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team dropped a hard-fought battle at nationally ranked Trinity College in Connecticut, 76-63, on Saturday, November 15th. The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-2 on the season following the non-conference loss.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led all Brockport scorers with 14 points, adding seven rebounds and two steals on the afternoon.Â
The first quarter would prove to sink the Golden Eagles, scoring just 10 points to Trinity's 20 in the quarter. The Bantams would finish the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 10-point lead into the second quarter.
Both defenses would take over in the second quarter, with Trinity College holding a slight 17-14 advantage in the frame. The Bantams would lead by as many as 17 in the quarter, but baskets from
Mandy Brink,
Peyton Maneri, and Jean-Baptiste would cut the lead to 13 entering halftime.Â
The Golden Eagles' offense would catch fire coming out of halftime, nearly matching their first-half points (24) in the third quarter alone (22). Down by 14 with 1:22 left in the quarter, back-to-back
Addy VanDewater three-pointers would cut the Trinity lead to 10 entering the fourth quarter.
Brockport would cut the Bantam lead to nine with 4:15 left in the game, but Trinity would outscore Brockport 20-17 in the final frame to secure the victory.Â
Despite winning the turnover battle 24-18, a 68-42 rebounding edge for the Bantams would end the upset bid for the Green and Gold.Â
Claire Turner led the Golden Eagles with 11 rebounds, adding six points and a block to the stat sheet.
Mandy Brink rounded out the double-digit scorers for Brockport, scoring 12 points with four steals.
