Simmons Sets New Program Record, Earns E8 Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Brockport, NY – On Monday, the Empire 8 announced that Brockport's Isaiah Simmons was named the E8 Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week, marking the Golden Eagles' first offensive player of the week award this season.

Simmons had an incredible day running the ball in Brockport's 51-0 rout of Alfred University at Bob Boozer Field. The star back totaled a season-high 236 yards on just 22 carries and rushed for three touchdowns, averaging an impressive 10.7 yards per carry. His scoring runs included efforts of 11 and 14 yards, but the highlight was a sensational 99-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that shattered the program record. Simmons also contributed five receptions for five yards in the passing game.

Simmons's 99-yard touchdown run broke the program's 68-year-old Longest Run from Scrimmage record. The previous record of 95 yards was initially set back in 1954 by Jim Royston and was tied in 1957 by Joe Massi.

The Golden Eagles improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Empire 8 play ahead of a highly anticipated rival matchup against Cortland on the road in week ten.
