Senior pitcher/outfielder Zach Eldred was named the Empire 8 Conference Baseball Player of the Week following an outstanding opening weekend on the mound and at the plate as the Golden Eagles began the season 3-0 down in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Eldred went 6-for-11 at the plate, while posting two home runs, nine RBIs and four runs scored.  He also walked three times at the plate. On the mound, he pitched 3.0 scoreless innings and struck out five as Brockport cruised past William Peace 12-0 in the regular season opener on Saturday.

In game one against William Peace he went 3-for-4 with six RBIs and two home runs as the Golden Eagles defeated WP, 12-0.  In game two against William Peace at the USA Baseball National Training Complex he went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two walks as the Golden Eagles won 6-3.  On Sunday, he capped the weekend going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI as Brockport defeated Wilson, 14-9. 

Brockport is now 3-0 and will travel to Pennsylvania on Saturday and Sunday to take on Lebanon Valley (12pm, Saturday, Doubleheader) and Scranton (1pm, Sunday, Single Game).
