Wrestling Looks Ahead to a Busy Weekend at Regionals

Brockport, NY – The wrestling team is set to compete in Regionals this weekend where they will travel to Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA on Saturday, March 1st and Sunday, March 2nd starting at 10am. 

The team is set to compete against 18 other teams including Alfred State, Centenary, Cortland State, Elmira College, Hunter, Ithaca, Keystone, Lycoming, New Jersey University, Oneonta, Oswego, Penn State Behrend, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pitt-Bradford, RIT, St. John Fisher, Stevens Tech, and Wilkes.

Cardinal Invite Recap – On Sunday, the Golden Eagles set off the St. John Fisher competing in the Cardinal Invitational finishing with some strong results. 
At 141, Dylan Nolan brought the heat in his matchup, earning second place to go along with 17 points. Nolan fought hard for two wins by fall at 4:27 and 4:16 in the Quarter and Semi-Finals. 

Scoring 15 points from a third-place finish was Spencer Maja in the 149lb weight class where he took two major decision wins in Cons. Rounds 2 and 3. In the Cons. Semi, Maja earned some easy points from an injury default win moving on to the Third Place Match where he took control on the mat and brought home the 6-2 decision victory. 

Brandon Drummond secured a fourth-place triumph, earning 13.5 points for the Golden Eagles after he won by an 11-3 major decision in the Cons. Round 2. Drummond took a win by fall in Round 3, moving on to the Cons. Semi-Round, taking a strong 18-1 tech fall victory. 

At 184, Khol Kalfass clinched a third-place finish, earning 13 team points after a 20-5 tech fall win in the Cons. Semi Round. Kalfass took the 21-3 tech fall victory to finish up his day in the 3rd Place Match. 

Luke Coffin earned fourth place alongside 12.5 points in the 285lb class starting strong with a win by fall at 2:22 in the quarterfinals. Coffin added on another win by fall in the Cons. Semi at 4:19. 

Also at 184, Elijah Bonet had a hard-earned second-place finish securing 12 points for the Green and Gold. Bonet started with a bye in the quarterfinals moving on to win by a 6-2 decision in the semifinals. 

At 157, Austin Boff had a day earning a fifth-place finish while adding on 12 points. Boff had an early 17-10 decision win to start his series of matchups. Boff picked up two more wins in the Cons. Rounds 2 and 3, making it to the fifth-place match, taking the 11-2 major decision victory to finish. 

Starting the day at 133, Dylan Levine had a fourth-place finish, scoring 10 points for the team. Levine received a bye in the Cons. Round 1, moving on to the Cons. Semi-Round, where he received a win by fall at 5:33. 


A Look at Championships – The Golden Eagles are set to take a break before the NCAA Division III Championships which will be held in Providence, R.I. at the Amica Mutual Pavilion on Friday, March 14th and Saturday, March 15. The top three finishers from each weight class at Regionals will qualify for nationals.
