Brockport, NY – The men's and women's indoor track and field teams finished strong in the E8 Championships at Utica this weekend. The men finished up day 2 in second place with 166 points and the women clinched a third-place finish with 97 points.
Men's Team:
Gabe Giannini had himself a weekend in the men's heptathlon finishing up with a strong first place finish with 4656 points. Tyler Miller took fifth with 4370 points.
Finishing the men's heptathlon in the 1000m race with a third-place finish was Miller at 2:59.96. Giannini finished in sixth at 3:11.29.
Jeremy Chen started the day in the men's 60m hurdles finals with a quick second place spot at 8.46 seconds, good for fourth all time. Kevin Brown finished just one place later in third at 8.53 seconds, good for sixth all time.
In the 60m dash, Derek Grimshaw saw a first-place finish at a quick 6.95 seconds, also finishing fourth all time. Arron Ottenwalder took fourth on the day at 7.04 seconds.
Jonathan Zavala brought his game in the 800m race with an impressive first place finish crossing the line at 1:53.85, also a new facility and meet record. Zavala also won track athlete of the meet following his dominating performances. Owen Arbocus clinched third shortly after at 1:54.14.
Coming in third at 22.26 seconds in the men's 200m sprint, also good for fifth all time was Michael Durski. Derek Grimshaw made his mark on the board at 22.39 seconds, helping him to a fifth-place spot and sixth all time.
The men's 4x400 team brought the heat, finishing in second and third all-time at a time of 3:21.51. The team consisted of Michael Durski, Jeremy Chen, Jonathan Zavala, and Ayden Grinion.
Taking seventh and eighth in the men's weight throw was Jacob DeWilde with a 15.04m throw and Mitchell Ellsworth with a 14.97m throw.
Dennis Bobbitt had a strong 14.08m jump in the triple jump taking him to second place and seventh all time. Thomas Fey finished up in sixth with a 13.19m leap.
In the high jump, Cardin Chau finished in a tie for third place clearing the pole at 1.87m. Jack Valentine took fifth also with a 1.87m jump.
Women's Team:
Taking a new 16-year-old school record in the women's 800m race was freshman
Ethne Degan at a quick mark on the board of 2:16.69.
Jaylah Cossin finished just one place later at 2:16.85, good for third all time, and
Mia Vizcaino took sixth at 2:19.00, good for seventh all time.
Marissa Wise had a strong 200m race finishing in second at 25.59 seconds.
Alexis Rodriguez finished in fifth and moved to eighth all time from a time of 26.11 seconds.
The women's 4x400 team had a well-deserved second place finish, also taking them to third all-time from a time of 4:00.27. The team consisted of

Monica Cammarota,
Courtney Bostic, and
Marissa Wise.
In the women's high jump,
Michaela Levesque brought in a fourth-place finish from a 1.53m jump and
Sasha Schramm took eighth at 1.48m.
Finishing up the day in the women's weight throw was
Katrina Chandler in fifth place from a 15.58m throw and
Rebecca Heuler with a 15.05m throw good for a seventh-place finish.
