Cortland, NY – On Saturday, the SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team lost on the road to the Cortland Red Dragons, 22-7, in non-conference action. Brockport is now 1-2 on the young season.
With a 6-2 showing in the first quarter, Cortland took a commanding lead early on. Brockport saw scores from
Marc Zappulla (assisted by
Nicolas Ange) and
Pierson Jacobs in the opening period.
Cortland would work to create a 10-2 lead before the Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard again in the second quarter.
Carson Colucci (assisted by
Pierson Jacobs) and
Michael Dowden both found the back of the net for Brockport in the second. The squad trailed at halftime, 11-4.
Brockport scored three more goals in the second half, but was unable to make a dent in the deficit.
Nate Askin scored twice and
Daniel Wright put one in on a man-up advantage. Askin and
Peter McGowan earned assists in the half.
Cortland added 11 more goals in the second half on the way to the 22-7 win at home.
The Golden Eagles are back in action at 6pm on Friday, March 7
th against Potsdam on their home turf in Brockport, NY.
