Geneva, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team fell on the road Saturday, 17-4, against No. 6 William Smith College. Brockport is now 0-3 in 2025, while the Herons move to 2-0.
It was all William Smith right from the start, as the home team opened the game with a 4-0 scoring run. Brockport's
Alayna Foos stopped the bleeding with an unassisted score at 4:15 in the first. The Herons held a 6-1 lead going into the second quarter.
While the Green and Gold failed to cut into the deficit, William Smith added to its lead in the second. The home team scored five more in the period, going into halftime with an 11-1 lead.
Angelina Soeffing scored her first goal as a Golden Eagles in the third, however the squad still trailed 13-2 going into the final frame.
Hailey Lewkovich and
Alayna Foos each scored unassisted in the fourth, but Brockport was too far behind to mount a comeback. William Smith marched to the finish line for the 13-point win.
Arianna Reed came up with 12 saves for Brockport, while
Makenna Cady stopped two shots in her collegiate debut.
The Golden Eagles are on the road again on Saturday, March 8
th for a trip to St. Lawrence University. Game time is scheduled for a 12pm start.
