Golden Eagles Come Up Short in Battle Against Oswego

Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team competed at home today against Oswego and came up just short in a back-and-forth battle. The Lakers took home the hard-fought 12-11 victory. 

The Golden Eagles had a hot start with a quick goal made by Paige Thowe with an assist by Hailey Lewkovich. Lewkovich took control with a goal less than a minute later, assisted by Alayna Foos. Oswego halted the 2-0 lead matching it with a pair of goals. Sarah Kilburn shot a rocket to the back of the net with an assist from Amanda Evans until Oswego came right back to tie the game 3-3 going into the second quarter. 

The Lakers opened the scoring book for the second period with a goal just two minutes in. The Green and Gold took control with three scores in a row with Sarah Kilburn finding the back of the net yet again with an assist from Alayna Foos. Paige Thowe added another unassisted goal and Hailey Lewkovich made one more shortly after bringing the team to a two-point lead. Oswego made one more before Brockport snuck a goal in with just 11 seconds left. 

The Golden Eagles went into the second half leading 7-5 until the Lakers dominated in the third period. They outshot Brockport 4-0 bringing them up 9-7 going into the last period. 

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle with Brockport taking the first shot. Karaline McCarthy made her first of the day with an assist from Alayna Foos. Oswego added another until Sarah Kilburn made another goal with Foos coming in with the assist. Hailey Lewkovich and Tristian Davis both scored bringing Brockport up 11-10 with just three minutes left. Oswego had the last shots of the day finishing out the game with the 12-11 win.

Alayna Foos led the team in points with five from one goal and four assists. Hailey Lewkovich added three goals and one assist for four points, and Sarah Kilburn also contributed three goals. Goalkeeper Arianna Reed was in the net for Brockport making 10 saves on the day. 

Coming Up – Brockport will be back in action on Wednesday, March 19th traveling to Clinton, NY to face Hamilton College for a 4pm start.
